Tarja Pirinen

Partner, Member of the Finnish Bar

I advise clients in exploration and mining projects as well as in industrial and infrastructure projects in general.

I have more than 20 years of experience in providing comprehensive advice to exploration and mining companies on a wide range of matters arising throughout the project’s life cycle. I advise mining and other clients in permitting and regulatory processes, arrangements concerning the acquisition of permits, rights of use and access rights, administrative procedures, nature conservation and environmental liability matters, and commercial contracts. I have also assisted clients in several transactions and financing arrangements in the mining sector. Chambers Europe has ranked me among Finland’s leading energy and natural resources lawyers, and Lexology has listed me as one of Finland’s leading mining lawyers.

In my work, I have a practical and straight-forward approach. Knowing and understanding the client’s business and industry is essential in delivering effective, business-oriented legal solutions that promote the client’s business. While high-quality legal advice is the foundation of assisting clients, I also recognise that legal considerations are just one part of a broader picture. Technical factors, project timelines and financing matters may play a crucial role in a project or the client’s business, and they need to be taken into account in order to find the best solution or way forward for the client’s project and business.
