I assist our clients as an intellectual property (IP) expert within our intellectual property services team, specializing in trademark and design right processes. My expertise spans from strategic consulting to clearance, and further to the protection and enforcement of our clients` business-critical assets.

With 25 years of experience in the field and a background in commercial law, I have held various roles that afforded me the opportunity to assist prominent technology, design, and trade-focused businesses in Finland and the Nordic region. My career includes working in an external-in-house position for a technology company and with several firms specialising in intellectual property consulting in Finland and Norway. In my current position, my focus is on managing global intellectual property portfolios and overseeing the protection and enforcement of designs and brands on an international scale.

I actively engage with international associations within the IP field, particularly in Europe, facilitating collaboration and influencing legislative and procedural matters with regional and international authorities, including EU legislators. My extensive network allows me to connect our clients with the best IP experts to support their operations in international markets.

As an authorised trademark and design attorney in Finland, I represent our clients in administrative processes from the Finnish Patent and Registration Office to the Market Court. Additionally, as an EU trademark and design attorney, I represent them before the EUIPO in opposition, invalidation, revocation, and appeal processes.

We are acting as legal advisor to Piippo Plc in the sale of their bale netwrap and baler twine machines, related assets, and trademarks used in Piippo’s business to Portuguese Cotesi S.A. The sale of assets will be carried out in two phases and the final completion of the transaction is expected to occur during the first quarter of 2026. Piippo Oyj’s core business is baling nets and twine and it is one of the leading suppliers in the industry globally. The company’s global distribution network covers more than 40 countries. The company’s shares are listed on the First North Growth Market Finland operated by Nasdaq Helsinki Oy. Founded in 1967, Cotesi is one of the world’s leading producers of synthetic and natural twines, nets and ropes, with operations in Europe, North America and South America and its main production plant in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.

We advised Valio Oy in its acquisition of Raisio Oyj’s plant protein business, related fixed assets and the Härkis® and Beanit® fava bean brands. The fixed assets include, among other things, the production equipment of the factory that makes plant protein products in Kauhava. The transaction supports Valio’s strategy to grow from a dairy company to a food company. This business acquisition will make us an even more significant developer and producer of plant-based protein products. The demand for these products will grow in the long term, and a great deal of growth potential still remains. In 2022, we acquired the Gold&Green® business and, since then, we have been carrying out strong product development and renewed the brand. Following successful product launches, sales in the last quarter of 2024 increased by about 50% from the previous quarter. With this acquisition, we are building our own production capacity. We are assisting eQ Commercial Properties Fund in the sale of a fully let property to Logistea AB (publ), with an underlying property value of EUR 25 million. The property is transferred through the sale of the shares in the property-owning company Kiinteistö Oy Hämeenlinnan Länsiportintie 15. Logistea is a Swedish real estate company focusing on warehousing, logistic and light industrial properties, and its shares are listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. The property was built in 2012, and it is located in Hämeenlinna. The property has a total lettable area of approximately 21,700 square meters and the entire property is leased by Faerch Finland Oy, a fully owned subsidiary to Faerch A/S which is a leading provider of sustainable, circular food packaging solutions.

We advised Gasum when it acquired 100% of the shares in NSR Biogas AB and the remaining 1/3 of the shares in Liquidgas Biofuels Genesis AB. Gasum has already been the majority owner of Liquidgas Biofuels Genesis AB since 2023 and is now acquiring full ownership. Gasum is a Nordic gas sector and energy market expert. Gasum offers cleaner energy and energy market expert services for industry and for combined heat and power production as well as cleaner fuel solutions for road and maritime transport. The company helps its customers to reduce their own carbon footprint as well as that of their customers.

We acted as legal adviser to Efima Oyj in its acquisition of the entire share capital of Sparta Consulting Oy, a leading data management consulting firm. The acquisition strengthens Efima’s position as a strategic development partner for large and medium-sized enterprises and supports the company’s growth strategy and ability to meet the growing demand for intelligent, data-driven business solutions. Founded in 2012, Sparta Consulting specialises in comprehensive information management, and its clients are primarily large Finnish companies in the banking and insurance, energy, and telecommunications sectors. Efima Oyj is a Finnish digital company that promotes the growth of large and medium-sized enterprises by streamlining and automating business processes and creating competitive advantage through innovative use of artificial intelligence and data. The company has over 250 experts in Helsinki and Tampere.

We advised Pihlajalinna Plc on an arrangement whereby Pihlajalinna Terveys Oy and Ikipihlaja Setälänpiha Oy sold their special housing services business to Esperi Care Oy.  The transaction involved three Pihlajalinna Uniikki units in Hämeenlinna, Lohja and Riihimäki as well as Ikipihlaja Oiva in Raisio. As a result of the arrangement, more than 100 employees transferred to Esperi. Pihlajalinna is one of Finland’s leading private providers of social and healthcare services, offering a wide range of services to both private and public sector clients. Pihlajalinna has more than 160 locations across Finland.

We advised Oomi Solar Oy on the sale of a 250-megawatt solar power project portfolio to Suomen Aurinkovoima Oy. The portfolio consists of ten separate projects, marking a significant development in the Finnish solar energy market and enabling over EUR 100 million in investments. Construction of the first projects is expected to commence as early as 2025, with sites located across various regions of Finland.

We advised Metsä Board Corporation on the issuance of senior unsecured green notes of EUR 200 million. The maturity of the notes is six years, and they mature on 28 May 2031.  The notes carry fixed annual interest of 3.875 per cent., and the issue price of the notes is 99.570 per cent. The notes were allocated to both Finnish and foreign investors. ‘We are delighted with the trust and interest shown by investors in Metsä Board’s first green bond. This arrangement extends the maturity of our financing and supports our strategy to grow in fibre-based packaging materials and renew our industrial operations. It also contributes to the achievement of our ambitious sustainability targets for 2030’, comments Henri Sederholm, CFO of Metsä Board. Danske Bank A/S and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ) acted as joint lead managers for the issue of the Notes.
