Meet Our Dispute Resolution Team in Arbitration Events in May

Castrén & Snellman’s lawyers are active participants in industry events around the world. We are involved in a variety of gatherings and training events both as sponsors and just as professionals with an interest in keeping up with how the world is changing. This spring, our team of dispute resolution specialists are sponsoring two events in Helsinki in May.

Helsinki International Arbitration Day (HIAD)

HIAD is an annual arbitration and dispute resolution event in Helsinki organised by the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce. This year the event is being held on August 26 at Restaurant Pörssi.

This year’s event has been divided into three topics: digitalisation and cybersecurity in arbitration, the future of arbitration from the perspective of companies and the role of mediation in international disputes. The speakers at the event are leading arbitration experts both from Finland and abroad.

The Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce is an independent body promoting the resolution of commercial disputes in arbitration. It administers domestic and international arbitrations governed by its rules and appoints administrators and mediators. Castrén & Snellman partner and co-head of our Dispute Resolution service Marko Hentunen is the vice-chair of the board of the Arbitration Institute.

Co-Chairs’ Circle (CCC) Global Conference

This year is the second time the CCC Global Conference is being arranged. The event gathers young arbitration practitioners from around the world to debate topical issues in international arbitration. The first conference held in Berlin in 2014 sold-out and was attended by 150 young professionals from 25 countries.

The second global conference will take place in Helsinki and will be hosted by Young Arbitration Club Finland (YACF). The event’s programming will mostly take place at the University of Helsinki on Friday 27 May, and will give participants the opportunity to discuss topical issues led by international speakers.

The Co-Chairs’ Circle is an informal platform for cooperation and networking between different groups of young arbitration practitioners from around the world.  Currently, some 25 groups participate in the Co-Chairs’ Circle initiative. For more information, see the Co-Chairs’ Circle’s website.
