Castrén & Snellman the most popular legal sector employer in Universum’s student survey for the second time in a row

Castrén & Snellman is the most attractive employer in the entire Finnish legal sector in the Universum Student Survey for the second year in a row. We have been the most popular private sector employer among law students for sixteen years running, ever since the survey was first conducted in 2008. This is the third time we are number one in the entire legal sector.

The annual survey charts the employer image of companies in various fields among students. This year, 36% of law students chose Castrén & Snellman as the most desirable employer.

‘We are proud and grateful to receive such recognition from students! We aim to actively support students’ growth as experts during their studies. We work continuously and systemically to develop our trainee programmes. Our goal is to be the best workplace in our field – for both students and more experienced experts,’ says HR Director Outi Ruohola.

Student-friendly culture and genuine cooperation

In recent years we have received a lot of positive feedback on our student-friendly culture where we include students in our every-day work right from the start. Based on the most recent Universum Student Survey, a good working atmosphere and a company culture that values students are significant factors for law students. The supervisor’s support in development is also important. This year the respondents’ views on the most desirable characteristics of companies emphasised themes relating to people and culture.

‘We offer over one hundred trainee positions each year, so it goes without saying that trainees are very valuable to us. Trainees assist our teams in handling some of the most challenging assignments in the Finnish market and learn about the various aspects of business law. This helps them in becoming experts. I believe that our culture and straightforward atmosphere as well as the genuine cooperation across the entire firm create an environment where trainees can thrive and where they want to stay after their traineeship. 44% of all our experts have worked for us as a trainee during their studies,’ summarises Managing Partner Sakari Lukinmaa.

A total of 13,222 students from 37 institutes of higher education participated in the survey this year. In addition to law students, Universum surveys students in fields such as engineering, health/medicine, business and IT.

We want to thank students for showing their support!
