I mentor the talented trainees at our information service part-time. Our team manages library and information services, conducting comprehensive research and investigations across all areas of business law.

I am an analytical, holistic, and creative lawyer. I am currently working on a doctoral dissertation in sustainability law, with a particular focus on corporate responsibility for Indigenous peoples` rights in the green transition.

My expertise also includes legal design. I hold a master’s degree in both law and political science, as well as a bachelor`s degree in language studies.

Finnish Centre for Pensions – Information design workshop

We delivered two information design workshops for the legal department of the Finnish Centre for Pensions, with participants from both legal and other professional backgrounds. In the sessions, we applied the principles of legal design thinking to the Finnish Centre for Pensions’ field of operation and background materials, also utilising AI as a design tool. The participants found the tailored training highly useful and commended the trainers for their in-depth familiarisation with the Centre’s opinion drafting process and operating environment. As a result of the workshops, our experts proposed a new structural and linguistic model for the legal department of the Finnish Centre for Pensions for drafting opinions and guidelines. The proposal was well received as clear and applicable to the participants’ everyday work. In addition, we presented tailored AI use cases to support experts, allowing for a more efficient AI-assisted way of working. Our experts who delivered the workshops combined their legal expertise with their leading experience in legal design. The participants appreciated this versatile expertise, which enabled a knowledgeable, creative and applied approach to legal writing. ‘C&S created a well-structured training tailored to our needs, providing clear direction for our organisation and concrete takeaways for our experts in their day-to-day work,’ says Mari Kuunvalo, Head Of the Legal Department at the Finnish Centre for Pensions.

SATO – Legal design of Code of Ethics

We drafted new Codes of Ethics for SATO to use internally and with business partners. The client wanted to get concise and legally up-to-date Codes that are easy to understand and look fresh. We drafted completely new Codes, designed a clear structure for them and designed and implemented their layout. We made separate Codes of Ethics for internal use and for business partners in order to meet the exact tone and style suitable for both end user groups. We also made English translations of the Codes of Ethics. The end product was practical and interactive PDF instructions that are consistent with the client’s visual style. Client insight and taking the target group’s needs into account are some of the main principles of legal design. The client’s wishes also focused on the end users of the Code of Ethics, i.e. the company’s employees and business partners. In this project, efficient project management and an open line of communication helped us understand the wishes of the client company and deliver an end product with which the client was very happy. Active dialogue with the client was an important quality factor in this agile and iterative project. In the first phase we provided the client with a prototype and then continued the design work based on the comments we received. The appearance of the final product was designed in accordance with the client’s graphical guidelines. SATO Corporation is an expert in sustainable rental housing and one of Finland’s largest rental housing providers. SATO owns around 25,000 rental homes in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Tampere and Turku. Approximately 45,000 residents live in SATOhomes. The project involved experts in legal design, linguistics and graphic design, and members of our Legal Tech team.

Oomi Solar – Sale of a Solar Power Plant and Battery Energy Storage Project

We advised Oomi Solar Oy on the sale of a solar power park and battery energy storage project to Tuulipolar Oy. The transaction concerned a 24 MWp solar power plant and a 36 MW / 70 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to be constructed in Tornio. Tuulipolar Oy will act as the owner and operator of the plant, while Oomi Solar Oy will be responsible for its design and construction. The project will form the world’s northernmost industrial hybrid power plant, contributing to Finland’s green energy transition by increasing renewable energy production and electricity storage capacity in Northern Finland. The hybrid solution enables optimization of production as well as active participation in electricity markets and reserve services, improving the project’s profitability and supporting the balance of the electricity system year-round. Electricity production from the hybrid plant is expected to begin in 2028. Oomi Solar Oy is a Finnish renewable energy expert with experience from nearly 200 MW of installed solar capacity. The company helps businesses and communities accelerate the green transition by offering comprehensive solutions, including solar power plants, energy storage systems, and related lifecycle services from project development to maintenance. We advised United Bankers on the sale of three care properties to Kinland AS. The buildings were completed between 2021 and 2022 and meet high technical and environmental standards. All three properties are fully leased. The portfolio has a weighted average unexpired lease term of 13 years.

Hiab – Financing for USD 1,035 million acquisition of Labrie Environmental Group

We are advising Hiab Corporation in the financing for its USD 1,035 million acquisition of Labrie Environmental Group, a leading North American refuse collection vehicle (“RCV”) manufacturer, from Wynnchurch Capital, L.P. Hiab Corporation (Nasdaq Helsinki: HIAB) is a leading provider of smart and sustainable on-road load handling solutions, with 2025 sales of approximately EUR 1.6 billion and approximately 4,000 employees, operating through a global network spanning over 100 countries. Labrie Group is a leading North American provider of RCVs, employing approximately 1,200 people.

Lenders to ICEYE – EUR 300 million revolving credit facility for ICEYE

We advised an international bank syndicate in a EUR 300 million revolving credit facility (RCF) for ICEYE, the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. The bank-syndicate comprised Nordic and global banks, with Citi and Danske Bank acting as Joint Global Coordinators and Mandated Lead Arrangers. The RCF will support the issuance of guarantees for customer contracts, enable continued business growth, and serve as a liquidity backstop.

Terrieri Kiinteistöt, A. Ahlström Kiinteistöt and S-Bank Building Plot non-UCITS Fund – Sale of a production and logistics property

We are advising Terrieri Kiinteistöt Ky and A. Ahlström Kiinteistöt Oy in the sale of a modern production and logistics building complex to Swedish property investment company Catena AB. We are also assisting S-Bank Building Plot non-UCITS Fund which in connection with the transaction, has agreed to sell the land area where the building complex is located to Catena AB. The building complex located in the immediate vicinity of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport was completed in 2021 and comprises approximately 23,260 square metres of leasable area, fully leased to Cramo Finland Oy. The approximately 140,000-square-metre plot offers additional long-term development potential in the form of approximately 45,000 square metres of additional building rights.

Huhtamäki – EUR 300 million bond and tender offer of bond maturing in 2027

We advised Huhtamäki Oyj on its issuance of a EUR 300 million 6-year senior unsecured bond under the EMTN programme and on the tender offer of its EUR 500 million senior unsecured bond maturing in 2027. The new bond bears interest at a fixed rate of 3.875 per cent per annum. Huhtamäki used the net proceeds from the issuance of the new bond for the partial repurchase of its bond maturing in 2027 and for general corporate purposes.
