Katri Kiviniemi Elected as Vice President of Finnish Fashion Law Association
C&S European Trademark and Design Attorney Katri Kiviniemi has been elected as the vice president of the Finnish Fashion law Association.
Fashion law is a field of law that encompasses a wide range of legal issues that concern the fashion and design industries and the related businesses. This legal field has mainly developed in the United States, but it has gained ground in Europe as well. Fashion law offers a new perspective to examining legal questions related to the fashion and design business.
‘I am excited to be a part of the activities of this dynamic association. I’m convinced that we can bring together even more people and organisations that are passionate about the fashion and design business and help them face the legal challenges they may encounter. Often it is intellectual property rights that are critical for companies in this field, but the fashion and design industries, even with all their distinctive features, also face the whole range of legal questions that come with operating in today’s business world’, Katri says.
The Finnish Fashion Law Association is a non-profit organisation. Last year, the association participated actively in many industry events, such as Helsinki Design Week 2015 and the PreHelsinki fashion week. In the first-ever IPR Gala, the association also received an important recognition in the form of the IPR Innovation 2015 award.
