We acted as the legal advisor to Schott AG, a leading international technology group headquartered in Germany, in its acquisition of Primoceler Oy, a Finnish pioneer in glass micro bonding. In the transaction, SCHOTT AG acquired 100% of the shares in Primoceler.
SCHOTT AG has more than 130 years of expertise in development, materials and technology and offers a broad portfolio of high-quality products and intelligent solutions for many industries, including the home appliance, pharma, electronics, optics, life sciences, automotive and aviation industries. SCHOTT group holds a global presence with sales offices and production sites in 33 countries worldwide and employs a staff of approximately 15,000 employees. The group generated sales of EUR 2.05 billion euros in the 2016/2017 fiscal year.
Primoceler Oy has developed a ‘glass-only’ micro bonding method based on laser technology that can be completed without any heat or added materials. The innovative bonding process allows the manufacturing of vacuum-tight, ultra-miniature electronic or optical devices with superior reliability.
Upon finalisation of the acquisition, the company will conduct its business activities under the new name SCHOTT Primoceler Oy based in Tampere, Finland, as part of SCHOTT’s Electronic Packaging division.
