Economic Counsel, M.Sc. (Econ.)
I joined Castrén & Snellman in October 2018 as an in-house Economist with the aim of providing support in matters requiring economic expertise and, thus, better serving client needs in a field that is increasingly driven by data and economic theory.
My background in competition economics allows me to work seamlessly in competition and private enforcement matters. I have previously worked as a consultant, advising clients in competition economics across a variety of jurisdictions as well as in front of the European Commission. I have experience dealing with national competition authorities from Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, the United Kingdom as well as France.
These previous experiences cover mergers and acquisitions as well as private enforcement cases. In terms of mergers and acquisitions, the potential concerns that I have covered have included both horizontal and vertical concerns, as well as conglomerate effects and abuse of dominance matters. My sector experience covers online and offline consumer electronic retail, grocery retail, raw materials, dairy industry, auctions among others.
In terms of private enforcement, I have significant experience working on cartel, predatory pricing, as well as margin squeeze cases. The industries covered include, among other things, telecoms and broadband provision, the dairy industry, and raw wood procurement.
Beyond economics, I have a strong interest in the application of technology and the use of statistical methods in analysing problems and finding solutions for the future.
