C&S to Compensate Its Flight Emissions by Supporting Reforestation in Panama and More Efficient Stoves in Rwanda

Castrén & Snellman compensates the carbon dioxide emissions from its air travel by supporting the Gold Standard certified environmental objects recommended by the WWF. This year, we are supporting the planting of biodiverse forests in Panama and the distribution of fuel-efficient stoves in Rwanda. More efficient stoves will reduce the amount of firewood needed and create less indoor smoke, which is also harmful to children. More efficient stoves will also make everyday life somewhat easier for women in Rwanda.

However, favouring the use of remote technologies in client work whenever possible has the biggest impact on reducing the firm’s carbon footprint.

Currently, very few Finnish companies compensate their flight emissions. Castrén & Snellman hopes that other companies will also heed the call to action to reduce their carbon footprint. We encourage everyone to take part in the WWF’s Earth Hour climate event on 30 March at 20:30 Finnish time by switching of lights for one hour—or even longer.

Castrén & Snellman joined the WWF’s Green Office network in 2009 as the first law firm in the network. Environmental responsibility is a strong part of Castrén & Snellman’s values. Our firm is also a member of the FIBS Corporate Responsibility Network, the Climate Leadership Council, Finsif and Esela.
