Samuli Tarkiainen has been appointed as a new partner at Castrén & Snellman as of 1 February 2020. His appointment strengthens Castrén & Snellman’s International Construction & Projects service, the leading practice in Finland in the field of energy and industrial projects.
Samuli Tarkiainen has extensive experience providing strategic legal advice to our clients on major domestic and international energy and infrastructure projects. He has advised clients in investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and PPP projects.
‘Samuli has versatile expertise needed to carry out demanding corporate transactions, restructurings and other projects in the energy industry, and his expertise is in high demand in the current market with companies aiming to reposition themselves in the evolving energy sector. Samuli is also highly appreciated by senior management and boards of directors as a strong strategic partner in corporate governance and other related issues. He is an outstanding legal advisor and excellent at building partnerships’, says Managing Partner Sakari Lukinmaa.
Ethical considerations, corporate responsibility and a rapidly developing regulatory environment are increasing the importance of energy issues in companies’ operating environments. The circular economy and the development of renewables offer interesting opportunities and will renew the value chains of businesses. Finland is an attractive operating environment for foreign investments.
In addition to traditional power production and heat and power co-generation, Samuli also has experience of various renewable energy and circular economy projects.
‘Many of our clients have adopted ambitious carbon neutrality and sustainability goals. I feel privileged to be able to support our clients as a lawyer in this important work. The investment and M&A activities of our energy and industrial sector clients also continue to be strong, and our clients have found us to be the right partner. I am extremely happy to continue this work as a member of this excellent team’, says Tarkiainen.
Samuli has worked as an attorney since 2007 and joined Castrén & Snellman in 2018. He has also worked at Fortum Corporation as legal counsel and a member of the management team and at Nordea advising the bank in its re-domiciliation to Finland.
