Russian Residency for Personal Data (Article in Russian)

Stanislav Rumyantsev published an article ‘Российская прописка для персональных данных’ (‘Russian Residency for Personal Data’) in Финвести (Finvesti), the journal of Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce. The article addresses the recent amendments to the Russian Federal Law ‘On Personal Data’ widely known as the ‘localisation requirement’.

According to the amendments, beginning from 1 September 2015 Russian citizens’ personal data must be processed and stored within the territory of the Russian Federation. The article outlines the main legislative changes affecting the business operations of international companies and proposes possible solutions.
