Counsel, Member of the Finnish Bar, LL.M. (Eur)
I assist our clients in competition law assignments using my more than ten years of experience as an attorney and in the retail trade business. In addition to competition law, I specialise in dispute resolution and I have special expertise in official investigations as well as competition and private enforcement proceedings. I have, among other things, represented clients in the largest cartel case tried in Finland and the related extensive damages court proceedings.
I started working for Castrén & Snellman in 2013. What inspires and motivates me is working with different experts and clients in a way in which the best, and often innovative, solutions from the viewpoint of the business can be found. I am described as an easily approachable sparring partner, and listening and uncomplicated cooperation are my key working methods.
In addition to the Master of Laws degree from the University of Turku, I have an LL.M. degree from the University of Leuven in Belgium and a post-graduate diploma in competition economics from King's College London. Understanding of the EU's legislation and internal market, fundamental rights and economics provides a strong base and a broader view for my work in conducting clients' competition law assignments successfully.
As an attorney, I feel that it is important to have good relationships with our professional interest groups and to share information and influence the development of the law. I am actively involved e.g. in the Finnish Bar Association where I am a member of the Delegation and a board member of the Helsinki Chapter. Training clients and colleagues, communicating in social media on important competition law issues as well as being the Finnish editor in the Nordic Competition blog are for me an inspirational part of work which always keeps me up-to-date.
I have a beagle (IG @angusmcbeagle).
