We are representing Stora Enso Plc in the largest private enforcement case ever tried in Finland, where more than 700 plaintiffs are seeking compensation from Stora Enso Plc and two other forestry companies for damage allegedly caused by a competition law infringement. The amount of damages claimed in total is more than EUR 200 million.

We are representing a major Finnish food industry company in ad hoc international arbitration proceedings regarding the governance of a joint venture company, with the value of the case amounting to EUR 31.5 million.

We represented a leading European construction company against multiple parties in international arbitration proceedings concerning a construction project in Russia. The counterparties claimed in aggregate EUR 16 million based on an alleged intentional breach of contract. Our client’s counterclaim of EUR 5.3 million was accepted in full and the claims of the counterparty were dismissed in their entirety.

We successfully defended a leading financial institution in a major dispute against 25 claimants consisting of Finnish municipalities and municipally-owned companies concerning an increase of loan margins. The case stems from our client’s decision in 2009 to raise the margins of the claimants’ loans due to our client’s increased funding costs caused by the financial crisis. The claimants’ claims were dismissed in their entirety both by the District Court of Helsinki and the Court of Appeal.
