New Partner in Our Employment Service: Outi Tähtinen

Castrén & Snellman has appointed Outi Tähtinen as a new partner as of 1 February 2018. Outi is a recognised expert in employment law and a strategic speaking partner for senior management.

Outi will return to Castrén & Snellman from DLA Piper, where she is now partner and head of their employment practice. At Castrén & Snellman, Outi will also be responsible for heading our Employment service together with Tomi Kemppainen, the current head of our Employment service. Prior to DLA Piper, Outi worked on demanding employment law assignments at Castrén & Snellman for over six years.

‘I am truly happy to have Outi back. Working life is undergoing major changes, and employment issues have become increasingly important for our clients’ business over the past decade. This has also directly been reflected in our business. With 12 team members advising our clients in all fields of employment law, our Employment service has grown into the largest practice in Finland. I am convinced that with Tomi and Outi at the helm we will be stronger than ever in this important business segment’, Castrén & Snellman’s Managing Partner Sakari Lukinmaa says.

Outi is known as an excellent negotiator in disputes that relate to working life, and she will particularly strengthen our expertise in employment disputes and arbitrations. Outi is also a well-liked lecturer, and she has co-authored a book with Kirsi Parnila on practical employment law titled ‘Työsopimuslaki käytännönläheisesti’, which will be published in the autumn.

Tomi Kemppainen welcomes Outi to his team: ‘Outi is the best possible partner for developing our employment services with me. In the future, an increasing number of companies will be struggling to keep their position and strongly renewing their strategies in order to meet the challenges posed, for example, by technology. Employees play a crucial role in companies in enabling successful strategy implementation, and employees with the right set of skills continue to be highly valuable to companies. Our time is also characterised by the emergence of completely new jobs while some occupations are disappearing. Facing these challenges, we are seeking to partner closely with our clients and ensure, for our part, that their strategies come to fruition.’

Castrén & Snellman employs approximately 140 lawyers, with a total headcount of 250 employees in Helsinki, Moscow and St Petersburg. Our job is to help our clients succeed in a rapidly changing world.
